Almost there!

2 more questions about your dental history, so we can deliver the exact solution for your needs :)

Avatar A: No 6/12 checkup

Holes in teeth don't generally hurt, until they hit the nerve.

And by then, it usually needs more expensive, complicated treatment.

More importantly, if you have holes in your teeth, and start on Invisalign, there is a chance the tooth will blow up on you during treatment, you'll need treatment, your aligners won't fit anymore, and then, you'll have to pay for new aligners.

So, to avoid all of that, your next step is for a "dental clearance" before we can provide you with the Clear Aligner treatment.

Avatar B: 6/12 but not with us

If you can assist us to get your most recent records from your current Dentist, then, we can verify that you are in perfect oral health, and ready to commence Invisalign & Clear Aligner trip.

This could save you 2-4 weeks of time in getting closer to your Dream Smile.

Just hit "YES" above, and we'll discuss with you, once we've contacted you :)

Avatar C: No 6/12 checkup, but offer an examination + free consult (60 mins)

Just choose from the options above, the one that makes the most sense to you :)

To be honest, this is the most efficient option for you, and for us.

So, hats off to you, and looking forward to welcoming you back soon.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here's what we usually get asked

Does Clear Aligner & Invisalign treatment work?

Invisalign was the first Clear Aligner product that came out to the public in approximately 1999.

It feels silly to say now, but back then, all these Orthodontists & Dentists were carrying on about how "it doesn't work" etc, when just a decade later, they were all offering it to their patients, and marketing hard on this front.

Why?

Because Invisalign & Clear Aligner treatment wasn't built to replace braces.

It was to provide another option to patients (and to Dentists & Orthodontists) if braces didn't make sense for them, but they also, didn't want to get a nice smile, at the expense of their natural teeth.

And for those patients, and the right type of patient problem, Clear Aligner treatment is a fantastic option that does "work", to produce your Dream Smile, without braces, but also, with minimal to no damage to your natural teeth.

Why do you offer a free consult?

For two reasons.

  1. Invisalign doesn't work for everybody

  2. We're not Orthodontists.

So the free consult is to see if Invisalign would be correct for you, and if we're the right people to do it for you.

At Rockingham Dental Centre, we can do a good chunk of Orthodontic treatment, but in certain instances, an Orthodontist is the right move for our patients, and we pride ourselves on offering that opinion, if that is what is best for you!

In this instance, we also have a network of local Orthodontists that we work closely with, who have the same interest in creating patient-focused Orthodontic care, if you wanted a recommendation.

Also, you need to have a degree of trust & feel comfortable with your chosen Invisalign Dentist, so a free consult feels like a low stakes way to see if we all pass the vibes test :)

So, it's for those reasons, that we offer a free consult, so you are given important, tailor-made information, before you have to pay a single dollar.

Also, as awesome a product as Invisalign & Clear Aligner treatment can be, it is not the appropriate treatment for all smile makeover or functional concerns.

So, again, we want you to be able to get this type of information as early as possible, and as affordably as possible.

If we can do Invisalign for you, and get you the results at the right standard, we will.

If we can't, we pride ourselves on giving you an honest recommendation about what would be the right next step for you, to help you unveil your Dream Smile!

:)

How many Dentists do Clear Aligner treatment at Rockingham Dental Centre?

We have a total of 7 General Dentists in the practice, 3 of which do Invisalign & Clear Aligner treatment.

Those Dentists are:

  1. Dr Shilpa Datta, graduated fromwho has a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry & dental rehabilitation, including the use of dental implants to restore missing teeth. She has been practicing Clear Aligner treatment. She has been providing Clear Aligner treatment since 2019.

  2. Dr Divia Heng, who is interested in minimally invasive Dentistry, which basically means trying to fix teeth with as little drilling as possible. Divia is well loved by the Team & patients alike, and has been providing Clear Aligner treatment for patients since 2021.

  1. Dr Vilas Menon, one of the co-owners of Rockingham Dental Centre, graduated from the University of Western Australia (UWA) in 2005, and has been providing Clear Aligner treatment since approximately 2007. Back then, most Orthodontists (including the Head of Orthodontics at UWA) was adamant that Invisalign didn't work.

Collectively, they have completed over a thousand cases.

Being such a big practice, with many Dentists skilled in all the various aspects of Dentistry, it is not uncommon to see referrals within the practice to each other, based on their interests & skills. By doing this, it also means we send very few patients out of the practice to Specialists, which we really only do, if the cases presenting are too complicated for the scope of our Dentists, or if it is an urgent / life-threatening emergency. It is a highly collaborative environment, with many regular coaching & meeting sessions, to improve our patient care for our patients.

How long does treatment take? (what is the timeline?)

We have a full timeline right below this FAQ that shows your start to finish Invisalign journey and the processes you will be going through.

Everyones treatment timeline varies depending on the severity of the case however the average once you get the retainers is 6-12 months.

Once you have gone through with the consultation and you are all set to start your journey you will be able to get a better estimate of how long your personal journey could take.

:)

How long do I have to wear them for?

The basics are:

✔ Wear aligners 20-22 hours per day (removing only for eating, drinking, brushing, and flossing).

✔ Change aligners as instructed (typically every 1-2 weeks).

✔ Attend scheduled review appointments every 6-8 weeks.

✔ Ask questions early & proactively, if you suspect any problems, don’t understand something, or have any other questions

✔ Maintain excellent oral hygiene to avoid complications.

✔ Attend regular checkup & clean appointments as indicated by your general dentist. ✔ Wear retainers as advised after treatment, to maintain results.

How much does it cost?

The cost range for Clear Aligner treatment have typically been from $4500 to $8500.

These are the extremes, and generally, most people's final cost ranges in between $6000 and $7000, but the costs vary due to us tailor making solutions for the patient in front of us.

This cost includes:

✔ The Aligner treatment itself (with up to 3 Sets of Refinement / Additional Aligners)

✔ 1 set of upper & lower retainers at the conclusion of treatment worth $400

✔ Dentist-grade (take home) Teeth Whitening (4 syringes) worth $400

✔ Additional accessories worth $200-$500 (eg. chewies, aligner removers, carry case, retainer/aligner cleaning tables etc)

Do you have payment plans?

Yes, typically, we offer two broad options:

OPTION 1: Pay in full, and get an additional discount

OPTION 2: Pay half, followed by a series of in-house monthly interest-free payments

We also have access to suite of 3rd party payment plans, to pay for some of the final cost, but these, unfortunately, will carry an interest component to them.

Does it hurt?

Broadly speaking, no.

There is definitely some discomfort when new aligners are placed, with the most difficulty being at the very first aligner, mostly due to the fact that your teeth are not used to being moved, and will take an aligner or 2 to "loosen up".

We usually recommend giving yourself an extra 10 minutes a day during the first 2 weeks or so of aligner treatment, until you get the hang of taking them in and out.

We also provide you with different complimentary tools to help make this part of the process as easy as possible.

What happens if I'm in pain or have an emergency?

The great thing about Invisalign compared to Braces is that there are very few true emergencies.

Emergencies with braces usually means a wire stuck in the cheek, or a bracket coming off, which can derail your orthodontic tooth movement.

But the common emergencies with Invisalign tend to be neither urgent or painful.

Some of these common emergencies include:

  1. Lost aligner - to help with this, we provide you a complimentary case to keep your aligners in, when you take them out to eat or clean your teeth (also, keep those aligners away from pet dogs, as they apparently love the taste of the plastic)

  2. Button/attachment has come off - just keep wearing your aligners, and the button can easily be put back on at your next visit with your Clear Aligner Dentist

And that's usually the extent of it.
